Hey friends! Monday is upon us…I hope you had as sunny and beautiful a weekend as we did here in Calgary – we sure appreciate it when we get it! I wanted to share a quick check-in post-run video with you guys but before I do, I wanted to say a (belated) HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to my mom and mother-in-law!
To my mom: thank you for being so faithful to dad, our family, and the direction that God has moved your life in throughout the years! I enjoy your love of the ocean spray, your encouragement and support of me in EVERYthing I do, your generous ways, your love of family, and your commitment to fitness. Thank you for loving Taylor and I growing up and now Mikey and I from afar. LOVE YOU, madre!
To Muriel: Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for being such a kind, hospitable, godly mother who raised a pretty wonderful man! I appreciate your love of God’s creation and your desire to get outside and enjoy it whenever you can! You’re a great example of continuing to grow and try new things and your baking is unparalleled. 😉
Speaking of Mother’s Day, we went to brunch after church with Mikey’s parents and later called my mom and connect. It was a fun day and I am SO thankful for moms everywhere – what an incredible job they do and role they have to play. Here’s a quick snapshot of the rest of the weekend:
Friday night I FINALLY got my workout on – I’d been dreading it all day and just felt unmotivated to move. 20 minutes later, I was glad I did it and then was off under the sunset to pick up Mikey from the airport:
Our Friday night fun? Catching up on our favorite shows together: Parks N’ Recreation, 30 Rock, and Modern Family. 20 minutes of fun there too (no commercials!) – just slightly different from my 20 minutes of workout fun earlier in the evening. 😉 He was in beautiful Seattle speaking at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. I love when Mikey’s away for a few days simply because getting back together is always so fun. 😀
Saturday morning I was able to sleep in a bit and then walked over to a client’s house to train – I LOVE being close by and not needing to bus, car, or train to someone’s house (and my client April KILLED her workout)!
While Mikey was joining a friend for brunch, I decided to get out under the sun and try to run again after many sluggish, heavy-legged, poor runs. I wanted to enjoying running again and decided to get out, #makeitcount, and just do it!
Here’s a quick video I shot post-10 miler with some thoughts on how it went and the two things I value most:
Move & Enjoy – what are some of your own “core values” in life/fitness?
Maybe fun dates out with my husband should be a core value too, because I sure do appreciate those in life! 😉 After my run we headed out for a movie date and saw the Avengers and snuck our Slurpees and gummies in – pure sugar but great for such a summery-feeling day.
I dropped Mikey off at a friend’s house and headed to The Keg Steakhouse downtown with the work crew to celebrate reaching 1,000 members at the gym! It was so neat of our owner, Darren, to treat us to that – we are treated SO great as staff there and it was fun to connect with people outside of the weight room! …not to mention the food was delicious!
After a late night, we crashed hard and enjoyed a great sermon at church plus the brunch Sunday morning and came home to do tons of work: 3 loads of laundry, clean sheets on the bed (my favorite!), vacuuming, prep for our summer trips coming up (so soon!), and then, the highlight of my day, a RUN together! We went out 20 minutes and back under breezy, sunny skies and I am just so proud of Mikey for all the movement he’s doing!
And that’s my weekend wrap-up! Tell me a bit about your weekend, share your #PROOF, hit me with your favorite movie treat or date, and please advise me if there’s other ways to get my running groove back!
Have a great start to the week, friends! Live well & be well,
