What can I say? Bloggers love alliteration! ๐ I hope your Tuesday’s started off well! Mine started off early but I’m already two clients down; five clients + one class yet to go on a full day! Monday was a full but manageable day – just trying to get back into the groove after a celebratory weekend on all fronts – I’m sure some of you can relate! So today it’s all about getting back into the routine and focusing on training well, one client and class at a time.
On that note, here are a few “two things” on my mind as I sit here programming my Power Cardio class and sipping on my black Americano:
Two Things Tuesday!
Work:
1.) I’m much more comfortable training clients than teaching a class. It’s definitely where my experience lies, but I always get a little nervous for Tuesdays at 12:15 pm when Power Cardio comes around…hoping to making this class “my own” a little more with each 45 minutes, once a week!
2.) It’s good for me to get out of my comfort zone at work. Teaching this class (and subbing for others) does this, as does signing up for more certifications and further my credentials as a personal trainer. In the new year, I’m hoping to get an Exercise & Cancer certification to add to my areas of knowledge – definitely something new and out of my comfort zone but something that rings true with my passions and experiences with people! More on that as it develops. ๐
Fitness:
1.) Running makes me happy. It’s just that simple! I don’t really do it for fitness, but I’ve realized that my weeks are so full that I seem to squeeze in shorter, high intensity weight workouts rather than run and it’s on the weekends, when I’m wondering what to do with some free time on a nice day that my body says, “RUN!” I felt so.great after my two ten milers on the weekend and wish I had time to run and run long in between clients every day! It makes it special on the weekends but I’d like to find time for a long run this week (might not happen unless I get some cancellations).
2.) Every time I walk up the stairs – any stairs, and every time – I’m winded and my legs feel tired and heavy! …What is up with that? I always hope no one calls me when I’m walking up stairs and huffing and puffing away (“Aren’t you a personal trainer?”)…anyone else feel me on this? Don’t think I would compete well (unlike my madre!) in a stair run.
Life:
1.) Well, it’s busy. But right now, that’s good! I don’t think it’s always good (we sometimes seem to say that as a “badge of honor”), especially when our priorities get out of whack and we maintain a truly unmaintainable schedule! BUT…I’m thankful for work. I’m thankful my weekends have been full of friends. And I’m ready to use this year and the next to really be focused – it’s a less traveling, less transient, more working kind of year, and that’s okay! There’s light at the end of the tunnel (and that’s a hopeful trip to South America when Mikey finishes his Master’s program!).
…busy! (and me taking pictures, as usual)
2.) I’m looking forward to another trip in the near future to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary: a five day hut ski trip! Mikey and I always go overnight winter camping on a back country ski trip to celebrate our anniversary but this year, for our five year celebration, we’re going out for five days and to a hut (luxury compared to our tent)! We.are.stoked! There’s much less skiing on the agenda this winter with my work schedule and Mikey in school, so this is surely something to look forward to – a few more weeks of hard work and we’ll be out in what’s known as a “classic gem of the Rockies” area with many long, hard, fun day trips ahead of us. Bring.it.on!
Blog Love:
Two posts to share with you today (among many great ones out there!):
1.)ย Janetha‘s “You Are Enough” post – I think we ALL need to be reminded of this Truth daily! You truly are: strong enough. Fit enough. Beautiful enough. You.are.enough.
2.) Want to get back into some clean eating after a more lax weekend? Here’s a great detox smoothieย recipe from Angela – and this one’s without banana (I love them, but they do have a lot of sugar and are in every recipe for smoothies out there!). Bring on that green goodness!
Quick – first two things from your Tuesday that come to your mind: lay ’em on me!
And that’s about it for this Two Things Tuesday! Oh – except for these final words of encouragement:
1.) Live well!
&
2.) Be well.
Catch ya later, friends!
Bonnie
Hehe! I always have trouble with stairs for some reason too! Congrats on your upcoming 5 year anniversary…your vacay sounds like it will be amazing!:)
Happy Tuesday and God Bless!
Thanks for the great note, Christin! ๐ I hope you had a wonderful day.
First 2 things… was not happy to be up before the sun…. winter solstice can’t come fast enough and I wish I had made it to the gym last night!
I had that Oh She Glows smoothie yesterday – it’s VERY green (and I love green). Today we switched to lime juice and didn’t have a cucumber and it was better. It is a great green juice for those days you want that though!
Good to know – thanks for the head’s up!
Hi –
Coming out of lurkdom for the first time to comment :). First off, sounds like you have an incredible ski trip planned! We pretty much just tent it, but last year we got a canvas tent with a woodstove so that seems pretty luxurious. Now we can actually hang out and read in the evenings instead of going to bed right after supper :p.
I am also wondering what personal trainer certification programs you would recommend? I am in Canada as well, and am interested in getting certified next year, but it seems like there are so many to choose from. I think I read somewhere on your blog that you have the can fit cert, but would like to get a โbetterโ (maybe thatโs the wrong word) one at some point? Iโm not in a major centre, so although the can fit course seems to be offered once a year or so, a distance ed option might be even better.
Thanks!
Kim
i live 8 flights above where i park my car. stairs are the only thing i’m god at. LOL!
NICE! I have to climb several sets of stairs daily (at our apartment and at the gym – up and down for the bathroom, for clients, etc) and they STILL SEEM HARD to me! …what gives?
Two things!
(1) I love my ‘older adult’ clients! Such a joy to train.
(2) I love that my daughter wants to be a writer!
I hear you on your “older adult” clients – they ARE such a joy! And how neat about your daughter! Love that she wants to be a writer. ๐
also love hearing what you are up too! I am thinking about getting my PT like Lori, well like just about every FitFluential Ambassadors ๐
Ha – yes, many other FFA’s are pursuing their certifications now or hope to soon! But that’s awesome! Now I want to hear more about THAT from you both! ๐ Thanks for your comment, Michelle.
Bonnie….I’ve place first in my age catagory for the San Francisco Stair climb….and I STILL get winded when I walk up stairs to a parking lots or other structure with a lot of stairs. I don’t get it!
So you aren’t alone….and I consider myself something of a “stair queen”!
That’s good to know, mom – makes me feel a little better. ๐ And yes, you ARE the “Stair Queen!”
YES YES YES about the badge of honor.
I thought it was just we CRAZY americans…
Well, I swing both ways… ๐ And come to think of it, I believe the article was American – but OH YES it’s up here too, ESPECIALLY in Calgary – it’s a face paced place, that’s for sure.
love the new look! and thanks for the holler!
Of course! And thanks so much for the comment! ๐
