…I went to a play with friends! The Kite Runner, to be exact, on Friday night. It was a blast to get a bit dressed up, have friends over for dinner, enjoy a thought-provoking story and actually go out on a Friday night. 😉
…I went for a run! This has not happened in a while as I just have been out of the running groove for whatever reason. Ugh. It’s a bit of a bummer but it is what it is. I’ve been enjoying great workouts in the gym but have been totally unmotivated to run. So instead of driving the few miles to my friends’ house on Sunday for a get-together, I ran instead! It was chilly and cold but I was glad to do it. I visited for about 2 hours and met a lot of neat people and then ran home for a total of about 8 miles. Perfect!
…I finished my pull up program. I’ve been LOVING pull ups and was kind of sad when my 30 day regimen was complete. I’m going to do a pull up test for my max reps of dead hangs Tuesday (and film it!)…a bit nervous but ready to see what I’ve got after so much practice!
…I called home. My brother was grabbing a sandwhich with some friends and we chatted a bit. My parents were driving up the coast to one of our favorite ocean spots, Goat Rock, with their lawn chairs and books in hand. What a perfect California day! Made me miss family and my favorite coastline.
…I put on some busted glasses. I LOVE driving around in the car and saying things like, “It sure is bright out here!” and putting on broken sunglasses or 3-D glasses from movies we keep on and seeing how long it takes Mikey to notice. He either doesn’t notice or rolls his eyes while I’m laughing so hard – sometimes I’m the only one who thinks I’m funny. 😉
…I ate some tasty food, both of the healthy and unhealthy variety. This weekend included a small glass of red wine, some *healthy* juice thanks to SPUD, some wine gums and gummy bears for a movie at home, and some eggs, kale, goat cheese and red peppers. Oh – and the Oreo ice cream on graham crackers that I had over the weekend. Moderation at it’s finest?
…I realized one of the reasons why I like parkour. It’s not a competitive environment – we cheer one another on, support each other and are all at different levels. I also really like that it’s not an all women’s class full of complete studs or fitness model-type bodies. There are curves, there are some rolls, but there are muscles and displays of strength too. I love that! Makes me feel relaxed, not judged and more at ease with my own body. Last night I focused on hand stand walks and kongs over another level higher than what I practiced on last week. It’s been fun! Hoping to shoot some video for next week so you can get a glimpse of what it’s like (I can’t do back flips yet…so don’t expect anything too hardcore!).
…that’s what’s been going on!
…and most importantly, my dad turned 64 – today, in fact! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the kindest, corniest, most Scottish, fit, fun and God-honoring man I know. I love you so much, dad – infinity x infinity! Dad, I love you because:
You’re always up for an adventure (…most the time).
You always make friends so easily (we all loved that cactus!).
You even get along well with my husband (except for that one time in Cabo…)!
You are so loving and kind, and pretty handsome too (look at him smoulder!). 😉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wish we were there to celebrate in person, but just know how much we love you!
Tell me, what have YOU been up to recently? I’m off to grab our second load of laundry on this holiday Monday (Presidents’ Day in the States, Family Day in Alberta!). Live well & be well, friends!
