Hey guys! Sure feels like it’s been a while…how’s life? Good? Busy? Draining? Challenging? Full of joy? I hope wherever this post finds you there is purpose and passion in your days.
Just thought I’d pop in to touch base with you all as a new week begins. Today was a long day, as they usually are, but started out with an unexpected visit from a friend (more on that later). I had a string of 8 clients with one 1 hour break in the middle today (like every Monday lately – “lately” because there is no real set schedule if you’re a personal trainer!) but had two cancellations and ended up getting a quick strength workout in and some sprint intervals cranked out on the treadmill. On a day I didn’t think I’d be able to catch my breath, let alone workout, it was actually a blessing! I love a good sweat.
Post-Workout #1 & #2
One thing I’ve been thinking about recently is trying to focus on what I CAN do instead of the things I don’t like about my body…If you’re interested in focusing on the same, then check out this inspiring, positive article from Nia Shanks here.
Backing up to the weekend, the main words I can think of to describe those few days are relaxing, people-filled and lazy. Really! Friday Mikey was up in Edmonton speaking at a hospital and then went to a fundraiser and got home super late, so I stayed back and after some clients cancelled I got home early and found myself tired and happy to have the home to myself. I took a bath, painted my nails and watched 2 (yes, 2!) movies on Netflix at home (one a documentary and the other a drama – both great!). I have trouble sleeping without Mikey, so it kept me awake until he arrived and also prevented me from going to be at 9 pm.
(Isn’t this fist pumping baby just the best? No idea where the original photo is from as he’s all over the internet so I just enjoyed adding my own text to his accomplished, successful little face.)
So yes, I stayed up late and made it past midnight (wahoo!). 😉 Saturday was a sleep in, relaxing morning full of reading, lounging, training 3 morning home-clients and some laundry. Sunday was super full – errands in the south of the city, church, connecting with friends out, having another friend over for dinner and a meaningful life catch up… and then the day was done! It flew by and my long run that I had planned went un-run as I literally had no time to pound the pavement. That’s okay! Roll with the punches and go with the flow, right?
And then this morning (Monday) I had a great surprise – my friend from university, Chaiyoung, was in town visiting her boyfriend and we got to connect before I went to work! It was SO good to reconnect with her and we had a great breakfast of scrambled eggs with veggies and oatmeal with toppings.
Love this girl! So many memories and good experiences together – what a wonderful surprise to get to connect over food and hot coffee and chat about life!
Whew. And that’s about all I got for you tonight! Another full week with the usuals – Fat Tuesday tonight (our small group from church), clients throughout the week, a few good workouts to come and 3 fun events this coming weekend – more on that later! Oh – and lots of sleep. That’s where I’m off to now. 😉 Night, all!
Live well & be well,
