Happy Monday to you! Ready to go #getafterit this week? No? Weather got you down? I can relate – winter’s back in Calgary after warming up and taking a bit of a break. It was pretty cold most of the weekend and yesterday and today it’s been snowing pretty non-stop. It hasn’t been too unbearable this winter, so I really can’t complain; every time I hear others moaning about the weather I can’t help but think, “Well, it IS winter…and we DO live in Calgary…” So it’s expected! But it definitely makes me want to hunker down and stay warm all day! 😉 At any rate, it’s hard to see the flakes, but here’s my view from my blogging corner right now:
Okay – so a picture doesn’t even capture the snow coming down! But let me assure you – it’s snowy and cold. That’s just life in Calgary! Regardless of how your weekend was, how you’re doing on those New Year’s Resolutions, and regardless of if you spilled your coffee on yourself on the way to work today, let’s #getafterit together and make each moment of our day count!
Our weekend was pretty low key, and it’s always nice to reflect on it Monday mornings because I don’t start work until later (ending at 8 pm means a later start – kind of nice for a change!). Friday night I had a drink with my co-workers in honor of one of our trainers and my friend, Caroline, moving on to another work place. It’s always hard to see someone go but we wish her the best and know she will ROCK her new job! No pictures snapped, but it was nice to connect a bit and share stories before I said goodbye.
I came home to a sick husband (guess he finally got it from me!) and not much fresh food in the house…so we ordered a giant pizza meant for leftovers for him for some easy lunches. Not the healthiest, but I can’t remember the last time we ordered a pizza, so it was kind of fun. We cuddled together and enjoyed some time catching up on some TV shows before hitting the hay for a long and much needed sleep for us both.
…told you it was giant! And yes, I have been over-wearing my new shirt and green pants; see photo below and photos from last few posts. 😉
Saturday was full of errands and organizing; Mikey worked at home on school and Survive & Thrive to-do items (hard to believe we’re already recruiting for summer trips!) and I did some prep work for clients for the upcoming week. Not too exciting, but we love hanging out in our place now that we have one of our own! While out and about, I was also able to connect with a friend over coffee and talk about life – isn’t it good to have people to bounce ideas and thoughts off of? I loved meeting with her!
I also kept up with my pull up program and finished off my first 12 days this weekend.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love pull ups! Such a great exercise. I’m looking forward to moving on to the full 30 day program and need to keep challenging myself in this way. Day one begins today…here we go!
Sunday was full of good things – a great sermon at church (good thoughts to start my week off!) and coffee with friends from Camp Homewood. It was so great to connect with this couple and catch up on life! Erwin is the director at the above mentioned camp (where we run our sailing trips for Survive & Thrive out of) and his wife Rita has an amazing DIY-themed blog that I really recommend you check out! They loved hearing about our own DIY project that we kept working on this weekend – our door-table! For those who may not have seen in a previous post, we found an old door in our attic and are currently turning it into a table! It’s been pretty fun to work on (although more expensive than we first though! Likely cheaper than buying a similar looking table though!) and we went over to our friends’ Mook & Nicole’s place to work on it last night.
I should clarify: Mikey and Mook worked on the table together in the basement while Nicole and I drank tea, chatted (another great catch up with a friend!) and played with their little guy, Peter. We love this family! …and are thankful for the help with the door-table! It’s SO close to being done…It’s been lacquered and is basically just needs to be glued down with some wood glue and we’ll do the final revealing!
So: people, pizza & pull ups. That was my weekend! Got any “P” words to share that describe yours? I want to hear them! 🙂
Stay tuned for a vlog tomorrow about training and fitness…Looking forward to sharing some thoughts with you guys and dialoguing in a different way about the things I’m passionate about! I’m off to train – braving the snow and ready for a full day!
Live well & be well friends,
