And now, for something completely different…a simply “for fun” post! I won’t talk about that cookie & ice cream I essentially had for lunch or the random backpacking meals in the car for dinner to save money. Naw. I won’t discuss the fact that the pouring rain and pitifully old and falling apart treadmill at the last hotel meant no runs since Saturday. No way… Instead, here are a few picture stories for you as we use today as a travel day from Charlottetown, PEI to Halifax, Nova Scotia. So…enjoy these updates to catch you up to speed on where in
the world Canada is Carmen Sandiego we are…
#1. The Tale of the World’s Largest Lobster
One day last week, Pat and I decided to visit our friend, the World’s Largest Lobster. Once we arrived, we told our friend to finally take a break from work and chatted up our fisherman friend.
All of a sudden, my lobster senses started tingling. “Save yourself!” I cried as I pushed Pat out of the way to safety. But I could not handle this beast alone…Out of nowhere, my daring husband appeared and mounted the lobster, fighting for my honor!
At one point, the battle seemed to be lost, but Mikey did not quit, and instead stayed the course and rescued me!
Later, and for only $11.35, Mikey ate the beast in a lobster roll…that’ll teach all those World’s Largest Lobsters to mess with my husband, Mikey freakin’ Lang!
#2. Scenes from PEI…Rainy Day Explorations
Bonnie & Mikey: Proving since 1973 that you can still have a blast in the freezing cold and rain of a Canadian spring! + + =
#3. The Last Days of the RV…
Cooking (oatmeal, coffee), Cleaning, Packing!
Drinking tea to stay warm in slippers – the comforts of home as you travel…
[Have we become RV people?! Get us into the back country with just a tent and our packs, STAT!]
“Show me your Broccoli Face!” [you, too, can play along – grab your broccoli and go nuts!]
At the Cow’s Creamery: “Show me your Cow Face!” (Pat: mooooing away; Bonnie: chewing her cud)//Happy ice cream faces!
Now it’s your turn! As Holly says, “Sharing is caring!” So…What have you been up to fun-wise lately? Any mid-day ice cream moments or fun excursions in your city or elsewhere? Leave a comment – I’d love to hear from you!
We’re driving, driving, driving today after two fantastic back-to-back screenings at the PEI Cancer Centre en route to our very.lost.stop on the tour. It’s been a blast, been encouraging, been enlightening, given us some new direction and will be a lot to process as we take time to let this whole experience really sink into our hearts and minds. The next time I post will either be post-screening in Halifax or from an airport headed back to Calgary…and let’s hope I’m blogging about a great run I just had because it’s been 3 days of no movement and I’m starting to go crazy. Until next time, live well & be well friends!
**Edited to add I DID make it to the treadmill once we arrived and got 7 miles in, plus half a glass of wine to celebrate making it across Canada! A good, fast run and a sip or two of wine…that’s my way to celebrate. **
