Hey everyone! Thanks so much for your comments and support on my last post…it was time to get honest and be real and I appreciate that you weighed in (pun intended 😉 ) with your thoughts. Not really doing much better with the whole food issue, to be honest, but it is what it is and I’m trying to move forward. Still haven’t weighed myself all week! That part’s good!
On a lighter note, here are a few things I’ve been loving lately:
Not sure what it is? I wasn’t either, until I read this post from Carla. I wasn’t doing it, until I read this post from Carla. 😉 I’m converted! and officially an oil puller for life (much to the chagrin of my husband, who hates the swishing sound. I don’t blame him, but it’s usually done before he’s awake!). I even oil pulled on the sailing trip!
(I was oil pulling in this picture as I strolled around the port of Nanaimo, British Columbia!)
Here’s a brief intro to what it is and why it’s good for your body (I use coconut oil, although other forms of oil are apparently okay to use too!).
They’re baaack! I’ve been spending all kinds of time in my Five Finger shoes and am reminded of how much I love them after some time apart. Training in them, wearing them for date night at home…even wearing them downtown among the business folk!
Waking Up Early
I’ve been loving the fact that I’ve been sleeping really well lately (I wonder if it’s because I’m eating more carbs later because of the intermittent fasting and therefore sleeping better? I’ve heard carbs at night help with that, but have not idea if there’s much basis to that). Every now and then, I’ve been waking up early to either get things done or hit the trails. So far I’ve only gotten up early once this week but had the urge to run far…so, despite what my food situation is, my current training plan is, or if cardio is “good” or “bad” for my current goals, I ran! And it.was.incredible!
10 miles, 1 hr.35 min, beautiful views. The trees are all changing seemingly overnight and I was enthralled with the colors, especially when the sun shone on the tree tops, making everything seem neon and electric. SO worth getting up for, and the time spent in easy, honest, natural prayer with God as I ran was worth it even more.
Although my motivation has been here and there with the workouts, I’ve been getting some good lifting in throughout the week and am happy with that! I’ve been following Nia Shank‘s Minimum Training for Maximum Results program loosely for two weeks and love it! Not seeing any change right now, but you know of my recent food struggles so perhaps it’s not surprising. 😉
That’s right! The one and only Lindsay Cotter is the phenom behind these amazing, tasty and, well, healthy bites! I recently connected with Christa, another local blogger, and we split a batch of these nutritious bites.
It was great to connect with Christa – she was instantly welcoming, warm, friendly and so easy to talk to – it’s so awesome meeting blends (“blog friends”) IRL (“in real life”)! The transition from our twitter conversations to just hanging out was so easy, and she and her competitive runner husband, Mark, are going to join our Fat Tuesdays (small group)! So looking forward to that (after they return from their trip to Maui – lucky ducks!). 😉
And now we’re at Thursday…the week was going slow for me and now it’s speeding by! That’s kind of fun. 🙂 So…let me know what YOU’RE loving lately and leave some good links for me to check out – other blogs who can become blends, good recipes or workouts or just fun things you’ve been up to lately!
Live well & be well, friends! Catch ya later,
