What a trip!
It’s hard to believe that we were only gone 1 week – it feels like so much longer! Our time away in Hawaii was so blessed – full of new-to-us adventures, explorations around the Big Island with friends, lots of beauty to behold each day, early mornings for breakfast at the YWAM base (6:30 am!), and fun things not captured on film like hiking to black sand beaches and surfing! I was also able to squeeze 2 early morning runs in: a 9 miler and a 5 miler that took me up huge hills, winding around tight corners, seeing the sunrise from the road, and imagining myself competing in the World Championship Iron Man that’s held right there in Kona! But the brightest highlight of the trip for us? Reconnecting with friends, their family members, having meaningful conversations with wonderful people, and supporting our friends Craig and Mandi from the start of the marriage. Thanks to the Mah and Slater families for making this happen, and to all those who drove this carless couple around the island and allowed us to be part of the fun and memories! As for those memories, I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking:
But all good things must come to an end! Back to the land of -12 C weather, snowy roads, and “real life!” It’s always bittersweet when a vacation ends – so good to get home and get back in the groove of life, but hard to change climates and time zones! I have a feeling we won’t be watching the SuperBowl today – home to unpack and prep for the week of work ahead and sleep, sleep, sleep! But until then, I want to know: What’s one of the most fun vacations you’ve ever been on? Have you visited any of the Hawaiian Islands? And who’s watching the game? Packers or Steelers?
Hope you had a great week and are ready to tackle the week ahead of you, enjoying the fun moments and breathing through the tough ones. Time to get back on track with more intentional workouts and eating well; it was nice to use surfing as my workout (holy paddling muscles, Batman! love it!) and explore while running around the island. As for all of us, let’s keep moving, eating well, and treating your body right so you can fully embrace the moments that God’s prepared for you this week! Live well & be well, all!
