Well, it’s that time again: July. Which means only one thing: a kayaking trip with new friends down on the Owyhee River in SE Oregon! To see what a trip like this looks like, check out the trailer from the film we made from our trip this last year – it gives you a great feel for what inflatable kayaking down a remote, canyon river with a group of young adult cancer survivors is like (in other words: awesome!). This year, I’ll be trying out my new Vibram 5 Finger shoes that I got as a b-day gift from my in-laws…excited to see how they hold up (great for working out, short(er) runs, and water sports!). Today, in fact, I gave them the run-around the house for some 10 minute intensity action:
It’s fun to anticipate a trip, especially one that’s physical! Movement-vacations are the best, and kayaking sure works the core, shoulders, and even lower body! But the best part is the bonding, transformation, change, and genuine community that will be shared and experienced! We’re looking forward to it in a huge way…
Be sure to check out the recipe section for some fun new food items and keep moving! I’ll be back just before the end of August with many pictures, stories, and memories to share as well as a post on how these shoes worked out for me while on the river. Live well and be well, all!
