…say what?! When this line caught my eye, emblazoned in bold on a women’s health magazine the other day, I just had to check it out; flat abs in 4 moves? And not just 4 moves, but 4 “super easy” moves? Sign me up!
”]The truth is that it’s never easy to accomplish your fitness goals – if it was easy, we wouldn’t have a problem with diabetes, obesity, and heart problems and everyone would be fit. But sometimes our expectations get off and we become trapped into thinking that it should be easier. Or we don’t realize how much we’re sabotaging ourselves along the way. Maybe it actually is easier (burn more calories than you intake, move more, make healthier choices, don’t keep the bag of chips out but just have one small bowl, etc) and we don’t realize how much harder we’re truly making it for ourselves.
Like today – maybe I should have kept track of how many chocolate chips I ate out of the bag while passing by the pantry! I thought I had control (I remember telling my mom I had no problem using it for baking alone when she visited); maybe it’s time to revisit if I do these days, because the way my stomach’s feeling now I definitely don’t! 😉
So my question to you is this: How often do you fall prey to the lose-weight-fast schemes that populate our culture today? It might not be fitness-related – maybe it’s the get-rich-quick tricks that tie you up, or else unrealistic expectations of others – or yourself, for that matter. I’m curious to know what grabs your attention and pulls you off course. For me, I think it’s often expectations of myself as I’m often not giving enough grace to myself and my flaws (see my last post for more on that!). With fitness, I know that it takes time – and remind my clients of that often. So why is it sometimes hard to know that about other areas of life? Building up your bank account, making friends in a new city, etc…it all takes time. So here’s to time, patience, and grace today: may you be at peace with where you are in your journey right now. Have a great rest of your Monday… live well and be well!
PS: the way to get “Flat Abs?” Not in 4 super easy moves but in eating the right foods and moving consistently…but more on that for another post!
PPS: check out this video that was NOT made the easy way – it’s sure to entertain and hopefully make you want to jump and move too!
