Hellloooo, Wednesday! Half way through the week already?! Crazy. Even though I’m not working right now, it still feels fun to be closer to the weekend…not sure why that is! I did meet with a friend about a possible job opportunity and will keep you posted on that if it comes to fruition! Until then, I’m enjoying unpacking, getting work done around the house, being creative with meals for Mikey and I, and fully enjoying runs and workouts at my leisure.
I realize that not everyone is able to work out when they want and take time to prepare their meals, so rather than worry about not working, I’m grateful for the random moments I do have to live well and enjoy the summer. Plus, warm sunrays are really only common about 3 months of the year in Calgary, so I’m enjoying them while they last.
Because I’ve had time to eat well, I’ve also had time to photograph, so here’s a new round of “What I Ate Wednesday.” Another chance not to compare or compete with other bloggers or readers and how they ate, but rather a chance to celebrate and be inspired by the fact that we.all.eat! And hopefully we can see that a.) there are a lot of ways to eat well and with great taste and b.) not everyone eats perfectly “healthy” or clean all the time!
To be honest, I’ve had a really hard time getting enough veggies in…I’ve tried to pump myself up with carrots for a midafternoon snack, but man! Just not as appealing as a small bowl of cereal with berries, cinnamon, and some almond milk! While that’s a good snack in itself, when I’m focusing on trying to eat more vegetables, it’s not quite the best decision on my part. Any tips on choosing vegetables instead? Another thing I’ve run into this week is snacking on desserts I’ve made for others! Not so bad except when you decide to make Mama Pea’s chocolate chip PB cookie dough balls at 9 pm tonight for friends coming over for lunch tomorrow. 9 pm + hungry Bon = MAJOR dough-eating. Whoops.

It was fun to receive some feedback from the workout videos I posted…if there’s interest, I’ll make sure to do more of them more regularly! Sometimes it’s fun to watch instead of read, isn’t it? And I always love hearing what people’s voices sound like when I usually just read their blogs; sometimes it’s just as I pictured it and other times they sound totally different! So, now you know me a little more. For some reason, when you pull up the website the videos turn right on and my voice starts talking! I’m so sorry about that – SO annoying and I’m not sure how to change it, especially as it hasn’t happened in the past with videos. Anyone know anything about that? Just press pause so you don’t have to hear me if you don’t want to!
Today, in between meeting with my friend, unpacking more of our bedroom, and listening to new playlists I created on Grooveshark (the Canadian Pandora equivalent! Finally found something that works outside of the states!), I got my workout on. I did yet another BodyRock workout and dominated this one (click the link for the workout video)!
That’s right, dominated.
Although nothing beats the feeling after a long run, I love feeling strong after a strength training workout. Skinny Strong is where it’s at.
What has your week been like so far? Any stellar workouts to share or ways to sneak those veggies in? We’re finishing a fun movie (“The Tourist” – slow but good) with a friend who’s visiting for a few days! For me, tomorrow is an early morning run with some prep for other friends joining us over lunch for some grub, community, and a walk. Then it’s off to connect with another couple for dinner – we are blessed to not only have such a great community but to have the time this week to really connect with them.
What’s coming up on the blog?
My thoughts on some new Simply Bar flavors! Love the stats on these bars and was thrilled when I saw them in the mailbox!
A book review of “Born to Run!” Excited to write this one.
As great as the above photo is (KARINE!), it’s not the one I want…
There…that’s better.
I’d love to hear from you! I hope you’ve had a great week and that you are moving well, eating well, and enjoying life to the fullest – as much as we have hard things going on in our lives and around us, there is always something to be grateful for. Catch ya on the flip side,
Bonnie

Mama Pea’s Mmmm sauce is my absolute fav! And her dough balls, to DIE for. I just got her book in the mail this week 🙂
Awesome, Lindsay! I JUST now ordered her book – excited to get it in the mail too. 😀 Already looking forward to my lunch today – a salad doused with Mmm Sauce! 😉 Thanks for the comment!
haha the last time I had a dough ball (ok three dough balls! hehe) I went into a sugar coma =) but it twas worth it! <3
Love your post Bonnie! Esp the part about not judging or comparing but celebrating eachtoher's various eating habits =) I can't say it enough! I feel like a broken record sometimes but blog land can be so mean sometimes, i have to keep barking out the positivity! Thanks for joining me w/ that love!
Thanks for your comment, Jenn! It’s such a refreshing perspective to think of celebrating versus competing, isn’t it? Glad to be on board that train and help spread the word around; thanks for starting WIAW – I’ll continue to contribute and keep encouraging others to do the same. 😀 Oh – and a dough ball sugar comma = totally worth it – I fully agree. 😉
