Hey guys and happy Wednesday! I hope your week has so far been a good one…but as I am reminded in the book of James, it’s very possible it’s been a rough one. May you press on the rest of the week whether the struggle is internal, family or friends related, issues at work, or pressing on in fitness. You got this!
It has been a good week so far for me. God continues to provide new leads for clients, which makes me want to JUMP for joy!
…and then flex because I’m about to help get them STRONG!
…moving on from the cheesiness… For the first time in a while, I’m jumping back on the “What I Ate Wednesday” post train, and my focus lately has been on getting GREENS inside my body!
Thanks for hosting the party once again, Jenn!
Can’t.get.enough of Kristin’s Mighty Green Microwave Muffin! I’m having it multiple times a week, often after my workout but today as my breakfast. Topped with plain Greek yogurt, half a banana, chia seeds and frozen blueberries. Greens for breakfast in a creative way? I’m there!
A mis-match mix of broccoli slaw, spinach, pumpkin seeds, homemade hummus, goat cheese, extra meat sauce from spaghetti & an egg on top! DELICIOUS (and nutritious).
…another similar lunch – loaded with spinach and broccoli slaw! Love the stuff!
Handful of almonds; 2 frozen cookie dough balls; three cups of tea (green, lemon & peppermint); a few dried mangoes.
Emily’s Indian Spiced Vegan Chili. It was a hit with our small group (Fat Tuesday returns!). I love serving healthy (and meatless) meals that satisfy to larger groups and I often turn to Emily’s recipes. Thanks for the inspiration!
In between the eating yesterday, I met my friend Heather for a blustery walk outside in cold air. It’s been so nice here lately that I think we’ve all gotten a bit spoiled and yesterday’s –5 C (which, with the wind chill, felt like –14 C) seemed freeeezing! Time to toughen back up; I think winter’s coming back.
We had a great time walking and talking at the reservoir and even made it to a Starbucks where we used a gift card for some free beverages! I warmed up with a cup of green tea while Heather opted for a strawberry smoothie – crazy girl! Something cold on a cold day! It was great to catch up on life and those are the moments that really make life count – moments shared with others. Thanks for the walk, Heather! …and for picking me up when I slipped on the ice!
I also got a workout in and did this BodyRock workout (Lisa-Marie’s part) and finished it off with 20 min of jump rope, jumping for 50 seconds and resting for 10 seconds. It wiped me out! I wanted to run but didn’t want to brave the cold again after our walk, so jump rope as my cardio it was! …I even stretched today (something I’m very inconsistent with and I know is wrong)! Wahoo!
Don’t own a jump rope? Pick one up from almost anywhere (especially a local sports store like Sport Chek or Sports Authority) – they’re super cheap! Don’t think you can jump rope? You can! It’s one of those things that you truly get better at with practice. Start with 10 sec of jumping rope, 10 sec of rest, and repeat 10 times to start. You’ll probably be quite successful for those 10 seconds and start catching your feet when the rest comes along. Pick it up and go again. You WILL see progress here! (Tip learned from my mom! ALL the people in her bootcamp, many of which are older than readers of this blog, can jump rope solid for one minute and do that back-to-back-to-back! After all, 6 minutes of consistent jump roping does equal 30 minutes of running. Pick it up – your heart, abs, and shoulders will thank you.)
Got any good recipes to share? Tried anything new or different lately?
How about those workouts? Have you been able to stay consistent this week or have you had some challenges?
Make it a great day, friends! Live well & be well,
