Half way through the week and another chance to give a little life update! Today on the menu? Some WIAW, workout updates, photo inspiration, and a sneak peek at our upcoming sailing adventure.
WIAW: Sponsored by Jen, whose photos are beautiful & who started this party! Get ready for some collage-crazy-food-photos!
I ventured out and made Ashley’s recent donuts, but without a donut pan I made mini cupcakes instead! They turned out great – gluten free and Mikey had one right away! I still haven’t had one – saving them for dessert after dinner with some friends tomorrow night.
Monday I enjoyed some BodyRock action and jump roped for cardio (and ab work – jump rope is a great workout for your core and shoulders!): 200 jumps, different ways + 20 push ups x 10. I felt great (besides sweating like I couldn’t believe!) and added a fast, little-to-no-breaks 1,000 more jumps. It sounds like a lot, but the truth is the time moves fast and the more you jump rope, the better you become – practice really does make perfect in this case. If you’re new to jumping rope, stick with it! It’s a stellar option for cardio and a great exercise to add into your workouts.
Today I headed out for 10 miles before the rain (and come it did!) and, after starting out with what felt like lead legs, I started feeling better after about 2 miles and decided to add on to my run. I was running extra loops around neighborhoods and around trails and hoped I’d estimate a 1/2 marathon. In the end, I ended up at 12.5 miles – not what I hoped for but I finished feeling strong and alive! I hadn’t run in 3 days so I enjoyed the chance to get back outside and beat.the.storm!
Well, after lots of planning, excitement, grouping of participants, and work, we are about to set sail! Some of you know that Mikey and I run kayaking trips with young adult cancer survivors (you can view the film from our first trip here), and this is our first time adding a sailing trip to the program. Together with Hand’s On Films we’re crafting another, shorter film that some of you may have donated towards! You can see our informational clip about the trip here for more information. We’re excited to hear stories, meet a new group of people, and have an incredible time sailing in a beautiful place. Here are a few photos from our adult sailing trip last year:
Well, that about raps up an update post, wouldn’t you say? What’s the best thing you ate today? Is there an phrase or photo that inspires you? How have you been working out lately? And are you looking forward to anything in particular this weekend?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of the questions! Have a great Wednesday – may your eyes be opened to see the joys and blessings around you and not be clouded by the distractions and frustrations of life. Live well & be well, friends,
