(Happy Friday Handstand!)
Hey guys! It’s been a full and fun week around Calgary, the gym and home. How has your week been? I have a super full day coming up with a few clients, some important errands to run, a meeting later and then I’m off to Canmore for our staff retreat all weekend! Since time is short, I thought I’d share a glimpse of my week through my iPhone with you:
I did the GPP workout “Hit the Deck” with my power cardio class, a small group and modified them with my tabata class. We had a BLAST! Seriously! It was pain, it was tough, but everyone got into it and we were high five-ing and sweating all over. LOVE my job sometimes! 😀
I really appreciated a quiet morning at home as the rain fell and made a blueberry waffle with an egg, some almond butter and chia seeds. Black coffee on the side goes with every breakfast, and journaling my prayers from our apartment with a gray sky was wonderful.
Yesterday the rain continued to fall steadily so I start my workout inside on the treadmill after a good 3-round body weight strength circuit. I got 1 mile in and it was so humid I had to get out there. Just then, the rain stopped, the clouds opened up and I ran for 4 more miles under a beautiful sky! We were celebrating a few birthdays at work so in between the mile and 4 miles I ate a piece of cake for some sugar and carb fuel…just perfect. 😉
Later that night, my in-laws took me out for an early birthday dinner since they’ll be traveling during my actual birthday later in June. We tried a few places that were all boked up and finally settled at Reader’s Garden Cafe in Reader Rock Garden. I didn’t snag the pictures from them of us all at dinner but I did get this one on my phone – the view from the beautiful home where the meals are served! It’s a unique gem that most people don’t know about in Calgary and was originally created by the man who made all the parks in Calgary in the 1930s. Lots of history and gorgeous gardens to browse; the house is located on top of a hill and you meander through the pathways past flowers in bloom to get there. The service was amazing, the view spectacular and the food excellent; we will definitely be back for fun occasions!
Thanks for the dinner treat, the thoughtful gifts (framed printed photos from our wedding – we didn’t have any!) and the most delicious gummies I’ve ever had (Maurice – WHERE did you get those watermelon gummies? Heritage Park?!). 😀
I’ll leave you with one sweaty and blurry shot from today. I did NOT want to workout today…but knew I’d feel great if I did because tomorrow is my rest day! I did 400 m interval sprints on the treadmill plus some weights/body weight/KB work in between each round for 8 rounds or 2 miles total. Not my prescribed easy 4 miles, but it was still pouring out (ALL day!) and I definitely got my heart rate up and whole body worked. This weekend’s run is a 12 miler – seems like so much less compared to my recent 20 miler! Should be easier to fit it in with my staff retreat Saturday.
If you could post a photo to capture your week, what would it be?
Cheers to the weekend! I hope you spend it with people you love being active and fueling your body well for life. 😀 Live well & be well friends!
