Recently I shared about my fall goals as I took time after the summer to reevaluate my direction and refocus. So where am I at now? I’m living it! Well, sort of – we were home from the Grand Canyon for a week, I trained and got back in the groove, and then we left again for holidays with my husband’s side of the family. Talk about a whirlwind of a summer being extended just a bit longer! But this just made my #SummerOfSweat goals all the more important, and as per my partnership with Gatorade Canada, having these goals has helped keep me on track in this busy season of life.
So…where does that leave me now? After the goals I set in the beginning of this #KeepSweating journey?
That’s right! Basically the same. With all the traveling, crazy schedule, and unforeseen nutrition aspect, I’m really happy about where I came out! Plus, I’m really not sure on the body fat because my Skulpt takes averages over time; I missed many weeks of measuring over the summer (the more you measure, the more accurate your averages and therefore readings are). But despite hard numbers (which don’t give the full picture anyway), I do know that it helped me to have goals to stay on track! Although my muscle probably did decrease over the summer, it is ramping right back up thanks to consistent workouts in the past three weeks and incorporating a pushup/pull up program with Kindal.
(Recently, my friend Colin even said, “You are looking solid. I mean, SOLID,” which I took as a massive compliment. My arms and shoulders are looking bigger from this program!)
I’m feeling strong and I know that muscles and strength and numbers will return. I’m also “cleaning up” my diet right now (I hesitate to use those words because I don’t like to classify foods as “clean” or “dirty,” “good” or “bad,” but the truth is I’m being much more mindful!) and feeling great!
Those numbers, my tighter jeans, how I feel in my body – all those things will come back (and maybe they won’t!). But you know what I’m happy to say is sticking, regardless of my size or strength now or in the future? My body image.
I’m at a very happy place with who I am and what I can do. It’s been a process of a few years for me to get to this place, but my mindset really crystallized this summer and I am very grateful that the #SummerOfSweat goals I had in place helped me see a bigger picture of truth about my body.
I’m still supplementing on the tough days with my favorite product, G2, which helps me to replace what I have sweat out after my workout. When you sweat, you lose more than water – you lose critical electrolytes including sodium. Learn more about Gatorade G2 at: http://gatorade.ca/products/g2/#

I’ve gotten back into the Gatorade Protein Shakes too as I didn’t have an intense workouts while traveling where I needed the protein to recover. Why a pre-made protein shake? Well, it’s easy in terms of convenience; I’m often on the go to my next client and don’t always bring whole foods with me. While I love fuelling that way, I’ve been enjoying the grab-and-go nature of these recovery shakes with 270 calories, 20 g of protein and 45 g of carbs. Remember; don’t be afraid of carbs/sugar post-workout!
Also, “”More isn’t always better. Studies show that about 20g of protein is ideal for most athletes because the body can only process so much protein at a time (check out Gatorade.ca for more information).” Since I don’t suffer any ill effects from dairy, a milk and whey protein shake works well for my body. It’s been great to use them intentionally post-workout; they help me to “be awesome.” 😉
I’m so grateful for the chance to partner with Gatorade Canada not only for the product (thank you!), but also because this Ambassadorship helped me to set some goals this summer. In the long run, my goals were expanded to a fuller view of my life and fitness, and I’m a more balanced, happy and (hopefully) effective person and personal trainer going into this new season.
What fitness lessons did you learn over this summer? Did you set any #SummerOfSweat goals to help you along the way? #KeepSweating, friends!
