Hey guys! Welcome to Tuesday, one of my favorite days of the week. Why, you ask? Partly because they are a day that makes me think of morning coffee, jeans, and t-shirts and partly because it’s Fat Tuesday night! I always look forward to time together with our friends chatting about life over good food and drink. Not that I wear jeans and t-shirts much these days (it’s all about the workout gear from morning ’til night with my line of work!), but they still make me smile.
You know what else makes me smile? Weekends! And friends! And concerts! …and combining all those three together makes for miles of smiles (bear with the cheese, please). π This weekend was just that – we saw Switchfoot with our friends Craig and Mandi for a now traditional event with our favorite band. It was a great night that started in a mall food court and with new (RED!) TOMS:
Β
…and continued with an hour wait in line (we get there early!) and a chance to hear a new-to-us band, The Rocket Summer.
Β
For an opening band we’d never heard of, we were happily surprised with The Rocket Summer. They had great energy, kept referencing Switchfoot as the main band (recognizing why people were there), and we loved their sound! And then…it was time for Switchfoot: the main event. π
As soon as the lights went down for Switchfoot to come on stage, I started to get nervous-anxious-excited feelings and started grinning from ear to ear! I forgot how much I love this band – what they stand for, who they are, and how they play; they put on SUCH a good show! Everything about the show was awesome, especially watching the guys play together, listening to how they tweak their old songs to keep them fresh and play such a good mix of their classics and new stuff. Mikey was smiling, Mandi was singing, Craig was videoing, and we were all so stoked to be there experiencing them again!
Β
This shot is called: I am really short. I was probably on my tip toes here – why are all the tall people always in the front row?! π
Us & lead singer Jon Foreman after the show – a tired frontman after a long, back-to-back Canadian tour!
Afterwards the four of us went to Denny’s – a new tradition post-Switchfoot concerts. Some late-night nachos and tea (sounds delicious, doesn’t it? ha!) hit the spot as late-night delirium settled in:
It was a great night! Thanks to Craig and Mandi for the good night and another great Switchfoot experience! We are fans for life (and if you’re interested, there’s a quick video of one fo my favorite Switchfoot songs at the end of this post). π
The rest of the weekend held reason for me to smile:
- A five-fingered, 40 minute trail run in Fish Creek Park with Mikey,
- Some reading of my new book and some emailing back to people plus program planning for clients’ workouts,
- A good morning at church, relaxing afternoon, and evening at a church dinner.
Like I said, miles of smiles. It was a great weekend and today started off bright and early with a full day of work. In between 3 different home visits to clients’ and five clients at the gym, I squeezed in a great workout that my friendΒ Janetha blogged about and recently did herself. I loved it, although it was rough to push myself really hard solo. The gym was dead and my motivation wasn’t the highest; I’d love to give this one a shot to see how fast I could go and hard I could push! Might need a friend for that. π
Finally, to finish off the day, I got home at 8:20 pm and made Mikey and I a late dinner before chilling out for a bit together.
Now? It’s bed time! And I’m ready for it. I have another full day tomorrow and am grateful for work; God is blessing me and my hours are certainly filling up! Now it’s on me to keep my attitude thankful and not whiney; I appreciate the work but don’t always have the best outlook after long days. π
Tuesdays – love them or not?
Who is your favorite band or what’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
What time does your household eat dinner?
Here’s to a great week ahead! Have a wonderful Tuesday and focus on the things you’re thankful for rather than the things you wish you had…it’s something I’m trying to focus on! Be back later with some workouts for you guys to try out!
Live well & be well,
Bonnie

Love the balance you seem to have in your life. It’s refreshing to see other Fit Pros living it up too!
Hey thanks Brad! Fun and friends mixed with hard work (professionally and in the weight room!) – a definite balance that I sometimes strike. π But that’s what makes it life! And I’m so grateful to be living it!
Sounds like such a fun weekend and sounds like a fab concert! I kind of love Tuesdays because that means the craziness of Monday is OVER.

π TOMS and Switchfoot for life!
I love concerts! So happy you enjoyed Switchfoot. I haven’t seen them yet, but I like to say I go to a lot of concerts. Mainly country, though as I think that is my favourite. My all time favourite concert may have been Keith Urban? But I am not sure. So hard to choose!
Keith Urban – not a huge country fan myself, but I bet he puts on a good concert!
I fell in love with Switchfoot back in college. So glad you enjoyed the show! I’d love to see ’em live.
Oh you should if you ever get the chance! That audio quality on the video did NOT do the video justice at all! MAN – they’re a blast. π
