Hey guys! I figured it has been a while since I did a “lately” post, and I always love a little sneak peek into other blogger’s lives. So here’s a look at what I’ve been doing, thinking and loving lately.
Yep! Me and Kindal are still up to our fun workout challenges! She shared the sled workout she created for us to do this week in her post here, so check it out, use the hashtag #T&BWorkoutChallenge and let us know what you think! I’ll share the one I program for us to to do next week!
Watching The Bachelor
Yep! I can’t believe it either. The only reality TV that I really like (okay, this one I LOVE) is Survivor. It’s not on yet (but I can’t wait for the premier!), but a group of my friends watch The Bachelor so I’ve started joining them for viewing sessions – and lots of laughter, some fun eats and catching up together. These are (almost) all moms and are busy so the time together is super well spent!
I’ve been consistent with my water drinking again, getting 3 – 4 liters in most days. It feels great! I’ve also been cutting out my sugars after doing well on that front and then allowing a ton of processed junk back into my diet simply because I wanted to eat it. 😉 Feels good, but the drinking water is key to me not snacking too much (interesting observation I’ve made) and feeling good all over! Here’s a great article about how drinking water helps keep you healthy in more ways than one by Shin O’Take that I shared recently on my Facebook page.
Our small group (lovingly named Fat Tuesday because we meet Tuesdays and eat good food and talk about life!) started studying Revelation recently. A book that can be scary, intimidating, unknown and often unread by many Christians is proving to blow us away as we dig in each week. There are a ton of misconceptions and misinterpretations about the book, but amidst that we are wading through together and learning about the root of it, and after studying chapter 4 on Tuesday night it’s all coming into focus. The point of the book is really the same as the point of our lives as Christians: it’s all about Jesus! About Him being King, reigning forever, and about us needing to choose – God’s Kingdom or Satan’s. It brings life into a sharp perspective and makes me think about how the only thing that matters is living my life as a response to God in worship. Jesus is just, kind, merciful and gracious, but in the end we will need to decide whose side we are on. This book has been super enlightening for all of us to go through and each week we are learning so much through the commentaries we’re reading, through prayer and through our discussions each week. Phew!
About next steps
As Mikey prepares to finish his Masters (in Health Services Research) and we turn our attention to our Survive & Thrive trips this summer (it’s going to be a busy one!), my mind is busy. We’re thinking about HIS next steps as far as possibly going for his PHd and MY next steps in turns of growing my business. I really want to be doing well by the 3 month mark and am about half way there…Praying for more clients and trying to use my time wisely! Family in the future, how long we’ll stay where we are in Calgary, etc – it’s fun to think about the unknown when you know that God is in control and we are along for an incredible journey. But it will be fun to see where we’re at in life in a year’s time from now!
About how to get business
Along the lines of the above, I’m still learning how to market myself and get the word out there about training with me. Besides my personal training website, handing out cards and sharing about what I do with cards ready wherever I go, I’m doing my best to keep my hours up each week. Just need a bit more consistency and more clients at CityFit. It’s growing, which I’m super thankful for, just slow and steady. Any insights or advice from you guys out there?!
I just purchased a bracelet online from DADmo and got it in the mail this week! I found these online through Jen Sinkler and this is jewellery that’s right up my alley: it’s cords of rope, which is actually what we make as reminders of community and keepsakes for everyone on our Survive & Thrive Expeditions trips.
Created by climbers to have that feeling of rope on them as an adornment, I ordered the “Dark Kermit” from DADmo and was gifted a second one by the company! Right on! On my invoice, handwritten, were the words, “Fitness folks seem to like these. No amount of blood, sweat or tears will wear them down!” …that’s pretty cool.
Gifts from my mom
Mikey was away last week in Berkeley, California for work just 10 minutes from my family! So he got to hang out with my parents, brother, cousin and her husband off and on while he was there. So fun! My mom took advantage of some room in my husband’s suitcase and sent me a sweater and some great workout gear, plus some really fun dish towels. Gifts from home are the best, especially galaxy workout tights! …thanks mom! Love ya. 😀
I’m a little late to the party but I’m enjoying this podcast! I have a few favorites to listen to (including The Fit Cast and different sermons online), but I’ve gotten hooked on this real life, week by week murder mystery and am enjoying listening more than watching stories for entertainment. A little less TV, a little more reading – but I prefer the listening kind of reading like with audio books. So this has been interesting – I’m only no episode 6 so don’t tell me what happens!
Answer one or all of the above: what are you doing, thinking and loving lately?
Until we meet again, live well & be well friends!
