Hey everyone! Been a few days since my last post but feels like ages! …guess that means I like to blog. π But I actually only DO blog when I have something to say! And the last few days have been busy. We are gearing up for this weekend’s Survive & Thrive Expeditions Fundraiser, a curling tournament, and also have family visiting! That plus a pretty neat personal training opportunity that’s happening tomorrow (I’ll keep you informed about that after it happens!) have all contributed to a full week.
When your days are busy, how do you keep calm? More importantly, how would you complete this phrase: Keep Calm and ___ ___.
(source)
There’s a sign for every way to complete the above phrase: “Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate,” “Keep Calm and Drink Wine,” etc. I stumbled across the above phrase while browsing on Pinterest and thought it summed up everything I want to do when I’m stressed – to keep calm and get fit. It’s certainly a choice we have in those intense days, busy moments and brushes with temptation to sleep more, eat more processed foods and cut the gym out of your list of priorities. But isn’t getting fit the thing that will help you MOST when you’re stressed?
The truth is, we all feel better when we’re fueling properly, moving more, getting adequate sleep and in tune with our bodies. In the moment that extra large ice cream sundae seems right, or the half-assed workout feels better, but the protein-rich and nutrient-dense lunch followed by a workout full of sweat is what LEAVES us feeling better. We don’t always keep calm by sweating it out; sometimes I’d say I “Keep Calm and Eat Almonds” (too many of which is, exactly that, too many!) or “Keep Calm and Run” (which is a better alternative but sometimes one-sided as it leaves me feeling like I can eat more). “Keep Calm and Get Fit” seems to encompass the mind, body and heart to me – we are so much more than physical beings! Being fit goes deeper than the oiled up muscles on the surface or the low number on the scale. It’s a lifestyle and has much deeper ramifications that what we see.
How you complete the phrase, “Keep Calm and ____ ____” when you’re stressed? What does “getting fit” mean to you?
In case you’re in need of a workout to help you keep calm and get fit, try this quick 15 min workout below!
To clarify, “AMRP” means as many roundss as possible. Just keep moving between the two exercises in each round until 5 minutes are up, then rotate to the next move, resting for 1 min or as needed between the three rounds.
…just some Thursday thoughts. π Have a wonderful rest of your day! Live well & be well friends,
Bonnie
This may be a silly question but what does AMRP mean?
Not a silly question at all! I meant to specify in the post – I’ll go back and change it: AMRP = “as many reps as possible” (in this case, in the allotted five minutes)! Just keep repeating until your five minutes are up.
Love your thoughts on today’s post and great workout Bonnie! π Can’t wait to hear about the personal training opportunity. Hope you’re fun-filled weekend is a great one! π You’re one busy lady!
Thanks, Kristen! I will fill you in on the PT fun when it happens! π Have a great weekend with the fam too!
Working out is the first thing I want to do when I’m stressed. Either a good run or a hard weight lifting session burns off some of the need to scream. A glass of wine afterward isn’t bad either. π
I like that! A tough workout and then a glass of wine. Sounds like we could work well together. π
I just learned the AMRP tonight at my 2nd Crossfit class..and here it is, staring me in the face again! Guess it and I need to become better acquainted π Saving this idea for use soon – thank you!
Awesome! It’s good when things start popping up in your life a few times like that. π
This looks like a great workout!! Can’t wait to try it :). Love all of your ideas on this post!
Thank you! Let me know if you give it a shot! π
