Friday – the first one of 2012! How are you sweating today?! I always love questions like that…they motivate me to get going and DO something today!
I woke up easily this morning after a great sleep, enjoyed some reading under dim lights (my favorite way to read in the morning – with “atmosphere”), and had more of Kristin’s green protein mug muffin for breakfast with some hot lemon water. As I was preparing to leave, my first client phoned and cancelled (she sounded so sick! Harsh way to start the New Year), so I jumped on the few minutes I had to pack up a lunch for Mikey and squeeze in a quick workout before my next two clients. Think you don’t have time to move? If there’s time to watch the morning news, read the newspaper, twittle around on twitter, or sleep late, then there’s always time! So my sweat (part I for the day) was this BodyRock workout that hit.the.spot. Twelve minutes that were quick, hard (if you push! Don’t give up for those 50 seconds!) and left me breathless and sweaty…perfect for going to train others.
Speaking of getting my sweat on, I knew I had to take my workout outside yesterday since it was so gorgeous out. We’re talking cold-spring-day-but-in-January-gorgeous out! The sun was shining, I had a chunk of time in the afternoon to myself, and after my blustery run the day before, was re-inspired to run. So I headed out hoping to make 8 miles and ended up tacking 2 more miles on in the middle for 10.16 miles total. For some reason, I love doing my long runs without planning them. There’s no build-up, no stressing over my eating, no pressure. This probably doesn’t work for everyone, and wouldn’t work if I was training for something specifically, but as I’m simply trying to get my runs in throughout the week I love the flexibility of going with the day outside and my time on hand and making it happen. I didn’t think I’d feel fast but kept my pace fairly steady, adding on a ten minute out-and-back jaunt in the middle and hoping to get to 10 miles (still not a Garmin runner, so I just play it by ear. Maybe one day?).
I felt pretty great after my 10+ miler yesterday. I determined to continue eating clean the rest of the day, drank water, and finished off the evening with two small scoops of ice cream with some crushed cookie crumbles. Yes, the same crumbles that got the best of me the day before. Last night, I was in control of them and enjoyed a taste without feeling guilty about it.
After a good morning workout, some fun training sessions, and a great long run yesterday, I’m feeling pumped to stay committed to clean eating, proper hydration, and consistency in my movements.
…and I’m making myself: Dedicated.
