Helllllo, everyone! Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week. Mine was full of training and it just felt like a solid week overall. Thankful for great clients who work hard and for good workouts to train them with – it feels good when things click. How was your week? Did you do well at your job and feel good about it, or was it a tough week (we all have those!)? Although this week was wonderful, today was HARD for me to get out of bed – my body (and mind, too!) really feel ready for a weekend. Anyone else? Regardless, and because it’s Friday, I think we could all use a little laugh to start the weekend off – am I right?
Oh man…I love babies acting like grown ups. 😉 Want some more? Okay, twist my arm:
Isn’t that SO annoying?
…curse those short arms!
Alright, alright. That’s enough. Now you have a better understanding of my humor! Moving on.
Aside from it apparently being “Funny Friday,” it’s also Fitness Friday here on the blog! Today’s Fitness Friday isn’t a workout (you can check out my most recent post for one of those, video included!), but rather a challenge to you as we move into the weekend.
Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to move for 20 minutes every day this weekend. If you need some ideas for what to do, you can always check out my YouTube channel for workout ideas/thoughts, but the main thing is just to move a little bit and not simply be sedentary. It can be a short HIIT workout, an outdoor hike or neighborhood walk, a swim at your local gym…Get creative and move! Sure, our bodies need a break every now and then, and if your rest day(s) fall over the weekend that’s fine, but I’m throwing the challenge out there so you can squeeze some short, effective movement into your weekend and not just view it as a time to veg.
Why? Because often when we become more sedentary, our food changes too. Isn’t it so true that if you’re lazing around you don’t necessarily feel like a fresh green juice or a salmon salad? Our food and movement levels often mimic each other. So perhaps this is really a call to eat clean(er than usual) over the weekend and not treat it as a free for all. Think how much better you’ll feel when Monday rolls around and you aren’t “resetting!”
Although I’m not paleo, this sounds like a pretty good way to eat to me! I know I’ve talked about this before on a Friday, but I just wanted to send some encouragement to you to urge you to keep living clean ALL over – inside and out – 24/7, 7 days a week. Will I have a glass of wine this weekend? Likely! But I’ve been feeling so great juicing more and eating full but lean, green meals at night that it’s not worth it to me to relax all my standards just because “it’s the weekend,” you know? (ahem – see last weekend) 😉
So…are you with me? Let’s move for just 20 minutes each day this weekend and see if it affects your day – I’m not even asking you to change your eating or switch up your foods but rather to simply see if the movement affects your choices at all.
What’s something you’re planning on doing for some movement this weekend? I’m sticking with my pull up program and hoping to get a run in before this warm weather disappears on Sunday! Fortunately, that day we’re also climbing with friends. Should be a good weekend of not necessarily “exercise,” per se, but movement! And I’m happy with that.
Live well & be well friends!
