Hey everyone, and happy Thursday. It’s a brisk -22 C outside and I’m planning on spending most of the day inside, getting things done. I’m tempted out of curiosity to go for a run (it’s been too long!) and just see how much I can bundle up and still move…I’ll keep you updated (and show some pictures) of the hilarity if it happens. 😉 Two things for today:
1.) I wanted to share some fun news with you guys; my blog post is up today as the featured blog at FitBlogger! Head over there, browse the site, and leave a comment on my post if anything strikes you (hint: it’s about the benefits of high intensity interval training; think quick, hard, fast workouts!). At the site you’ll find tons of information about nutrition, fitness, and healthy living and be exposed to a lot of great blogs out there. So check it out, leave a comment (in the “Featured Blogs” section), and let me know what you think!
2.) Secondly, the kind folks at The Simply Bar contacted me after seeing my post about making Simply Switches in the new year and have generously offered to give away a delicious and nutritious basket of their product (worth apprx. $200)!Want to enter for your chance to win? Here’s all you have to do: leave a comment on this post telling me 1 “Simply Switch” you’ve made in the new year or that you’re committed to making in 2011. For example, one of mine is to switch out afternoon cups of coffee for cups of green tea (and so far, so good!). It can be a small switch or a big one. I will randomly pick a winner by Sunday, January 16th and announce it on the blog. So…what are you switching up?
Keep up the good work with small steps to switch your lifestyle and make some changes. Check out my post at FitBlogger and let me know if you try the quick, 12 min, high intensity workout – only body and motivation required! Live well & be well,
Bonnie
ps – Just heard that with windchill the temp is -31! Hmm…not sure if I’ll make it out but I’m challenged by the thought of running while dressed up like a marshmallow! 😉
Hey Bonnie! My switch was in making my big meal of the day lunch instead of dinner. My family, like many others always have our largest meal for dinner when I know it is important to operate in the opposite way. We have amazing and super tasty lunches and usually just soup and salad for dinner. We are feeling great and have more energy during the day! Happy New Year!
Awesome, Kylie! Great switch…that will for sure make a difference in your weight/energy/etc as you’ve alluded to – way to go! As long as lunch isn’t massive… 😉 I hope things are well! Would love to catch up face to face at some point. Keep up those healthy switches – the lunch/dinner one is a great one I hadn’t thought of.

Congrats on having your blog featured… that’s great!!
Here are the switches I’ve made so far in 2011:
I switched my family from eating white bread to whole grain bread instead.
Yesterday, I switched from using white flour while baking to almond flour.. and it was good!
One big switch for me is that I signed up to run/train with a local running group, whereas before I would always run by myself. I am so so happy with this change for so many reasons!
I took the step (finally lol) and registered for a 30km road race that I have been wanting to run.
I really like this idea of “Simply Switch”… lots of good (and healthy) things can come out of it! Thanks Bonnie!
oh fun gift! I am switching out my complaining for laughter!
I am switching my afternoon coffee for tea (thanks!), my evening snack from treats to just yogurt, and also trying to switch juice to water sometimes. I am not planning on running in this cold, but this year I have not picked up the kids from school in the car once yet. I am more motivated by parking than fitness, but whatever works!
My switch has been no chips/ junk food until after my wedding… And we may continue the no chip thing for the whole year. And more Bonnie time! :p
My switch is to avoid gorging on pasta and pizza dishes a little less and replace them with potato or root type vegetables dishes. Mmmmmashed potatoes!
Hi Bonnie! My switch for 2011 is to pack more home made lunch’s when I am heading out for the day with my son. I often find myself just grabbing something for us while we are out, but that can sure add up (on the calories and the wallet.)
You are an inspiration Bonnie!
Hey Bonnie!
I am switching from buying lunches to bringing my own, more healthy and reliable foods so that I eat on time and more healthfully!
Also, I am switching from ever eating protein bars on-the-run for breakfast, to making time in the morning to eat a warm bowl of oatmeal. Yum!
Cheers!
Kristi
Hi Bonnie, I am going to switch from a glass of white wine to a white wine spritzer, (half club soda) when I want the taste of wine, or a glass of club soda after the wine if I want it undiluted. But only ONE glass of wine!!
cheers,
Kat
Hey Bonnie,
I am going to switch less worrying for more faith this year.
Cheers,
Susan
