Hey guys! I’m blogging from a fun location this morning: the Calgary airport! I LOVE traveling and always get excited for time spent in airports (and new places). Today I’m here because I’m headed to Vegas (baby!). 😉 Mikey will be meeting me there as he’s speaking at a conference in Toronto today and we’ll be attending the O.M.G. Summit, the premier oncology conference and social networking event for the young adult cancer movement (from their website). We’re excited to be part of a small Canadian contingency going down south and are looking forward to the weekend there, as well as getting out for a day of bouldering/trail running in Red Rocks National Park. Some go to Vegas for the strip, we go for the rocks. 😉
Leading up to today, my days have been very full – I allowed them to get jam-packed knowing I’d soon be on my way south! Here’s a little photo glimpse of the week so far, which, as you will see, has mainly been at the gym!
Training others, getting more comfortable in my new workplace, writing programs, driving home to my in-home clients, and packing up foods like hardboiled eggs, almonds, dried cranberries, and grapefruits for my days of work. It’s been great! Busy but good. 😀
In the process, I also learned a GREAT new move I wanted to share with you guys from Susan – the deadman burpee. Check it out and add it to your next workout!
I got home last night around 7:30, ate some snack-ish foods for dinner (and later some ice cream with cinnamon and a bit of melted chocolate – I’m all about enjoying it all in moderation!), and then got to packing. First thing that went? My Zensah arm sleeves and Vibram Five Fingers! I always pack my workout gear first and look forward to it; what about you? Items coming with me? The aforementioned, a jump rope, my workout log (full of workout ideas), and running shoes. Ready for action!
In other news, it was fish taco night at Fat Tuesday this week! Although our group was small, we had a great time connecting and I was grateful for a healthy and delicious meal (thanks, Nicole and Mook!).
I also received my chia seeds that I won from Elizabeth! I was THRILLED to get them and you better believe they’re coming with me to Vegas (baby)!
I promptly put them into a new creation of mine, oatmeal with spinach! I blended up the spinach with some almond milk and used it (plus some water and a bit more almond milk) to make oatmeal! It was pretty good, and got me getting my greens in without going savory for breakfast. 😉
And that, my friends, brings me to about time to board my plane. I’m looking forward to this time away and hope to keep planning workouts, move myself, lay by the pool, get my climb on, and meet with some wonderful folks and learn lots at the conference. I’m also hoping to catch up on some blog reading – I miss knowing what’s going on in your lives! 😀
Be sure to check out my guest post over on Heather’s blog while she’s away on the slopes (thanks for the opportunity to share, Heather!) – it’s about running, endurance, and life, and there are photos of me from high school. 😉 Thank you to everyone for your tweets and encouragements about my last post; we are still trying to raise funds and are more convinced than ever that we should be making this film. Please continue to spread the word and thank you for your support! I’ll catch you guys from Vegas (baby)!
Live well & be well,
Bonnie
Holy new burpee! Wow. Enjoy your time away!
gotta love a new burpee.. ew lol
love VFF’s, one of my favourite things to wear on my feet while working out.
Have fun! We’ll have to catch you next time.
That looks TOUGH! I love it 🙂
Bonnie!! Have so much FUN in Vegas with your man. Enjoy your time together.
I will definitely add the deadman burpees to my next workout, thanks for sharing! I think I’ve seen these on The Biggest Loser before but have never tried them myself. You must have some good balancing skills if you can take a picture and run on the treadmill at the same time… i so would not be able to do that!
Love the burpie and of course love the spinach in the oatmeal. 🙂 Sounds like my kind of breakfast. 🙂 he he. Hope you’re trip is going well. You definitely should make the movie. Will be praying for you. The money will come. 🙂
