[Review of Zensah Limitless Arm Warmers & a YogaSmoga outfit at the end of the psot! Weekend recap to kick it off.]
Snowy weekends are great for several things: ripping it up on the ski hill or in the back country, curling up with a book and sipping hot chocolate (which I never do but it always sounds so cozy) and studying. Which do you think I did this weekend?! …That’s right. I buckled down and got to work! Having your spouse leave for the weekend does help you get some things done – I mean, life is better with Mikey, but I cleaned the bathroom, swept the whole apartment, tidied up the entry way and opened up my books. I’m studying for the ACSM Personal Trainer certification so that I can boost my knowledge from what I currently have (Can-Fit-Pro) and work towards the Exercise & Cancer certification that ACSM offers. I set an exam date and got to work after borrowing the books from a friend for…oh…3 months now? 😉
So. I studied.
I kept up with my 60 day pull up/lunge/push up challenge (more info on that here!).
I cooked some simple, nutritious foods.
And, for the first time in 2 years of working at the gym, I went to workout on a Saturday. I usually find myself outside and away from work, but it seemed like a good study break and definitely was just that!
And I studied some more. Haven’t had a good ol’ productive weekend in a while. Isn’t that a good feeling? Was your weekend about fun, people, down time, work or a combo of them all?
There was a panel discussion afterward with our friends Amy and Annie (you’ll know them as the central focus of the web series) and Eamonn, part of the film crew with our friend Aaron, who we’ve worked on all our films with since 2009. How neat to see it on the film screen, and by the tweets and Facebook posts it was a great event! Cheers to everyone who participated and made it happen. 🙂
There are lots of exciting things coming up with Survive & Thrive, and I am so happy to support Mikey as the spokesperson and he is off and running this week with lots of neat speaking engagements. It’s so neat to feel God’s faithfulness and blessing after several years of work and help from so many people. I’ll keep you updated on the happenings, but for now be sure to follow along as Mikey tweets the experiences on the road over on Twitter and for updates in the Survive & Thrive Cancer Programs FB page!
I have 2 reviews to share with you today – some great products that I wanted to pass along! Full Disclaimer: I was sent both products for free in exchange for my honest review; they are products that I use for work and personally in my fitness-oriented lifestyle and, as always, my honest review is what you’ll get! 🙂
The Limitless Arm Warmers were sent to me to try out after connecting with Corey at Zensah (ahh…think of the Florida heat where they don’t need to use these right now!) and trying out several other products, two of which I used in my first marathon (a pretty memorable, crazy and meaningful weekend if you haven’t seen what happened!).
From their website:
Whether using the Zensah Limitless Compression Arm Warmers during an early morning run, or while working out, the arm warmers provide athletes with improved circulation for faster muscle recovery. The arm warmers also feature a convenient mesh pocket on one of the sleeves for storage.
I think this is a great product for shoulder seasons – the spring and the fall when it’s a little too cold to bare it all but too warm while running to wear that many layers. Of course, the the weather changes so much this time of year here, but here’s a video that shows me in motion on a warm day (haven’t had one of those in about 3 weeks!) testing them out:
Aspects I especially liked:
– The thumbholes! You know fitness enthusiasts love these. 😉 Kept ’em snug but when they got to be too much (felt tight after a bit and I got warm enough my hands needed air) I rolled up over my wrists. Simple fix!
– The pocket for my phone! Or anything really. Such a great addition.
– Loved the length and fit. It worked for me!
I can’t wait for a bit of change in weather (definitely need full sleeves with how much snow we’ve been getting, and I’m less inclined to run outside with snow on top of ice when the weather’s like this verses when spring really hits!) so I can rock these babies on the trails in the mountains and the paved roads in the city!
Now for two products I use more often right now inside the gym: YogaSmoga! I must say that right off the bat I was impressed by 2 things: the incredible warmth, good connection and communication from YogaSmoga (I emailed with Rose) and their free shipping to Canada philosophy. That is rare to find! So that made me super happy and I have received so many compliments on my tights, especially, so it’s been easy to send people to the website and know that they’ll receive free shipping! Here’s the outfit I received, based on browsing the website and using my measurements as a guide (rather than size S,M,L or 2,4,6 etc):
I chose the Yantra Tank in Grey Caviar and Lime Lite and the Run, Jump & Play Crop in Violet Twilight and Mosaic Grey. Living in Canada, I must admit that I’m a LuLuLemon wearer, but I truly like the fit of these more! When I received the tights they looked SO small, but I stretched them on, trusting the measurements I sent and feel so great in them. I get compliments daily (I need to get another pair/color so it’s no so obvious I’m wearing the same ones every.single.day!) and don’t feel any muffin top or bulging in them. I decided to wear them with confidence and love the bright color!
With the top, it took me a bit before I tried it in the gym because initially it felt too small. I like my shirts less form fitting and more snug but with room to move and breathe, and this one was fairly taught against my stomach. Not immodest (high neck and not tight there), just tighter than I’m usually comfortable in the abdomen. I knew I could probably send it back (indeed, Rose offered to switch it out for me), but I finally asked Mikey what he thought, he didn’t think it was too tight (rare so I believed him!), and I wore it and ROCKED it! 😉 It’s my go-to outfit now, and I know I will use the top on summer adventures in the back country.
If you’re looking for a less snug fit (see photo above), you can browse around on their site, but I do like the top now and loved the tights right off the bat and continue to wear them (as seen in this weekend’s workout video above!). When you refer a friend, you get $25 SmogiBucks toward your next purchase, and you also receive them every time you shop with YogaSmoga. Here’s the exchange rate:
1 SMOGI Buck = 1 Real Buck for future purchases
(SMOGI Bucks have a shelf life of 1 year from being earned).
So go give them some love and check this awesome company out! And if you feel so inclined, you can browse and purchase through my link – I need another pair of tights in a fun color to bring some life to my workouts (and so I don’t wear the same sweaty pair every day). 😉
And that brings me up to date with sharing some products I love, a bit about my exciting weekend and some Survive & Thrive events. Tell me, got any study tips for me? Do you use compression – have you tried Zensah before? Ever been afraid to wear an outfit and you just decided to go for it and felt that boost of confidence?!
Have a great start to the week, guys! Live well & be well,
