Happy 2014, friends! I’m finally checking in after a wonderful hiatus from blogging, from internet use, from checking in on social media and am back online. 😉 A slow down of “connectedness” sure helps when you can’t use your international phone because of roaming, right?
But now that I’m back, it’s been great to check in with friends and see how others are doing. Being back in Calgary has been good too, and today the routine started again with a full day of training – my own and my clients’! I’m looking forward to what the end of the week and the start of this new year have in store for me, but before looking ahead, I wanted to share a couple photo highlights of our #californiachristmas and a video of the first half of our trip thanks to Mikey. (Hopefully the second half will appear shortly!)
California was beautiful…but being with friends and family was the cherry on top!
Christmas Eve at my parents’ home with my brother (pictured in the top photo), our friend Gail, my aunt and uncle and cousin and her husband. We talked lots (this is a big theme in our family – talking and black coffee) and played a fun game that got every moving and laughing.
But before Christmas Eve, Mikey and I had quite the 4 day adventure that included sleeping in my parents’ car, driving down the coast, a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Disneyland and… well, just take a look here!
After that? Well, after Christmas brunch at my aunt and uncle’s house, complete with a concert by my brother and his girlfriend in the CA sun, we headed to the coast for a few more adventures. So much to share, but here are a few highlights:
1. Jumping (of course) on Mt. Diablo in Walnut Creek
2. Mom and dad overlooking Stinson Beach after a night, with no tent, outdoors!
3. The 5 of us with the sunset behind…so beautiful!
4. Becky and Gerar (cousin and her husband) caught in a moment. 🙂
5. Another gorgeous CA sunset
6. Mikey and I at Inspiration Point in San Francisco
7. Biking the Golden Gate Bridge (and all over the city and parks!) Sunday with Becky and Gerar!
8. My mom, dad and Mikey on top of Mt. Diablo on our last day in CA.
9. Me, jumping, on the same mountain.
There is so much more to share, but this will do for now. I was able to connect with some neighbors and have some meaningful conversations, enjoyed seeing some friends (and meeting new ones) that I haven’t seen for ages and loved being back in the Bay.
I also taught 2 of my mom’s bootcamps (which was so fun!) and did only a few workouts of my own while there…one with my mom (a good circuit in her gym) and one on Pismo Beach! The rest of the time was filled with eating a mixture of foods (read: holiday “treats” and the usual fare) and walking lots. Plenty of relaxation too.
It was a blessed trip and I am so thankful for the year that God gave us that ended with a sunny, warm, family-filled, full time over Christmas. What a gift!
And now…to a new year. I hope you had a wonderful time of rest, of fun, of meaningful conversation and thought and time away from routine, friends. Here’s to 2014! Live well & be well,
