Hey everyone! I’m coming at you from the most populated northerly city in the world, Edmonton! It’s definitely north, it’s colder than Calgary (there’s just a bite to the air here), and we’re staying in a beautiful old heritage building downtown. I’m so excited about this place…let me show you around:
The Union Bank Inn
Isn’t it great? It’s tiny but really neat, and a building that’s been here for over 100 years, so it feels extra special inside. With the cold outside, it makes you want to curl up and stay right in here! …which we just might do after dinner. Hey – it IS our 4th anniversary, after all!
The morning began with a great workout – worth getting up for even though I slept horribly and didn’t want to wake up to move! …more on that at the end of the post – read through because I’ve got a great workout for you!
After a good breakfast and finally getting packed up, we hit the road, stopping at Starbucks for a special treat – an eggnog latte for him and an Americano with one pump of peppermint for me.
Two eggs w/broccoli, tomatoes, red peppers, spinach & chia seeds w/lemon juice!
Edmonton is always further away than we remember! Half way there, we stopped at the Burger Baron (see his little Christmas hat in the pic below?!) for a “Wrangler Burger” for Mikey and a beef donair for me. Deeelish!
Almost 4 hours later, we arrived and enjoyed checking out the room before heading outside to walk around for a bit. It.was.cold! but we enjoyed the stroll before heading back in for some down time before dinner.
I’ll save the dinner dress up pics for another post. In the meantime, here’s a workout for you guys to do at home this weekend if you’re not resting. It requires little equipment and can be done at home in the early morning or in the not-so-crowded-December gym. Check it out – taken from a great new resource I just found called Baby It’s Cold Outside from the BarefootWarrior on youtube (her website is here). Check her out – great stuff.
First, get your sleepy-morning-pre-workout-face on!

Got a fun anniversary story to share? Any good workouts to link to? I’d love to hear about them. Mikey’s preparing his presentation next to me for tomorrow – a big day with meetings and talks for him! – so I’m going to unplug now and cuddle up. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Live well and be well (so you can be present to live with and love others!),
Bonnie
i love this workout! special in so many ways! love you!
I love B&Bs – so cute and so much more character than a regular hotel. Love the mirror – I could use that in my house.
I have a couple of treadmill workouts that make those indoor running days more entertaining: http://betterwithveggies.com/2011/11/how-to-make-treadmill-running-more-fun/

Could you please explain what squat thrusts are and how they go with pushups? Thanks!
Of course! You can click the link to see the full workout in motion (on video), but for a squat thrust you’ll squat down and jump your feet back into plank position, then jump back up to a squat and stand. It’s like a burpee without the jump at the top. Thanks for asking!
