Hey guys! How has your Thursday been? I know Lindsay let out this week’s Tuesday Trainer theme, Janetha’s vacationing in Mexico, Kelly’s back to her perky, working out self (love getting back into workouts post-sickness!)…what else is new?!
Getting a post up a little late today…it’s not been the busiest of days, but simply not a blogging one! But I’ve got a fun post for the evening – well, fun if you like learning more about me, I guess. But don’t worry – there are links to workouts and good recipes too, so hopefully you can take a little something away from this “11 Questions” post!
Heather tagged me earlier, so this is my response to her insightful post. Here goes nothing!
1.) You must post these rules
2.) Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog
3.) Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
…sounds simple enough! Heather’s questions are bullet form below with my answers underneath.
- What are the 2 most recent books you read and what did you like about them?
1.) G.K. Chesterton’s Orthodoxy. We read this book together with our small group from church and I learned so much! It is a tough read but has so much to offer; people used to write with much more thought, in my opinion, than they do now, making it something you must think through to read through. But the benefits to digging in? Life-changing. It’s essentially Chesterton’s story of how he came to know Jesus, and it’s amazing how a book written so much before our time is so directly applicable to our society today. I could talk all about this all day (and did a little bit here in the intro to our book!).
2.) …maybe a Runner’s World magazine? Well either that our my Beth Moore Bible study book on James. I’m not the biggest reader…
- What are the 3 best recipes you tagged from around the web recently – either ones you’ve tried or are still on your list to try?
3.) Gotta’ give a(nother) shout-out to Kristen’s creation, the mighty green protein microwave muffin! I eat these often and love them after a long run with plain Greek yogurt, blueberries and chia seeds scattered on top! This has become my go-to post-long run snack/meal and I had it yesterday after my almost 13 miler.
4.) Another meal from blogland I’ve tried is Corey’s recent creation: cauliflower crust pizza! I actually made it for dinner with my in-laws tonight! The verdict? Healthy, turned out a little gooey but was delicious and well-received!
The crust; one pizza with goat gouda, another with cheddar; broccoli & mushrooms!
5.) Today I was craving a little something sweet after lunch but we didn’t have much on hand to choose from (not even any peanut butter!). I was heading the store and had one thing in mind: Jess’ no-bake PB protein bars. I instantly hit the batter and man – they hit the spot! They’re full of protein (especially with the chia seeds sprinkled in!) and satisfy my need for sweet…which I will not be having the rest of the day because I ate so much just now. They’re in the fridge ready to be cut into bars now!
- What are your 3 best/favorite posts & why?
I’ve pinned some of my most thoughtful/informative posts on my Pinterest account (I’d love you to follow me! I’ll follow back for mutual inspiration!), but here are a few that I hope are helpful and/or insightful!
6.) A special WIAW edition: who I am!
7.) Metabolic Resistance Training: what it is and how to get it, explained in layman’s terms.
8.) Valleys & Peaks: we all go through ups and downs in fitness and in life… If you’re in that spot hopefully this will serve as some encouragement for you.
- What are your 3 favorite fitness moves or exercises?
9.) I love all bodyweight exercises! So I’m going to combine a few here and clump them under “bodyweight moves” as my first answer. Push ups (and variations like spiderman push ups, plyo push ups, decline push ups, etc) and squats (and variations like jump squats, prisoner squats, squats etc) are for sure my favorite!
10.) TRX moves. I first became certified on the TRX as a trainer about 3 years ago now, and I absolutely love this fitness tool and the company, who’s based out of San Francisco (my home town!). Some of my favorite moves on the TRX include deep body rows, mountain climbers and one-legged
Mikey and I in my mom’s gym down in CA!
11.) Pull Ups. I love them! Check out my video below for why I love this hard-to-do- but rewarding move.
Alright…so there you have 11 answers to 11 questions! I’m going to break the rules a little (since I’m such a rebel ) and tag anyone who wants! If you’re not a blogger, I’d love to hear your answers to a question or two in the comments below! And instead of giving out 11 new questions, I’m giving out one:
What is your ideal day, from start to finish? Mountain day? Beach day? Somewhere around the world? With people or solo?
Have a great night, you guys! Check back tomorrow for a new workout featuring a NEW (to me) FITNESS TOOL! …pretty excited about sharing this one with you guys.
Live well & be well,
