The alarm goes off at 4:23 am, giving me time to fall slightly back asleep until 4:30. I am surprisingly awake and decide to just get up and get going, so up out of bed and into my robe, I arise. I don’t stay in my warm, polka dotted robe for too long though, because I am ready (…cue Dixie Chick’s music)…READY TO RUN! Although I was nervous going to bed to run the night before, anticipating my run to a client’s house and back in the cold, I was excited to get on the road. I made sure I had everything I needed and was off running!
I arrived at my destination, 5.98 6 miles from home, warmed up and feeling proud of a 5 am run in the dark. How fun to just use my legs as transportation! There were barely any cars on the road and it wasn’t nearly as cold as I dreaded it would be – very peaceful and mild feeling out. I enjoyed the run immensely and was excited to see a friend and train before heading home. She offered me a ride after our session, which was hard to turn down since her house was much warmer than outside, but I was ready for the challenge and had really pumped myself up to head back out into what seemed to be not only darker but colder than when I first set out. As soon as I started running, however, my feet felt like they were flying through the night and I smiled the whole way home!
So much accomplished by 7:40 in the morning! What a great feeling. Now…to be productive with my afternoon hours! This is the hardest for me – lots to get distracted by around the house and online. But it’s a great day to be inside, because ever since the late morning hours it’s been snowing outside!
Some homemade butternut squash chili and a hot cup of green tea later, I’m enjoying the afternoon and glad I finished 11.96 12 miles. 😉
Now…what was I saying about afternoon productivity?! Oh, right! Back at it! Until next time,
Live well & be well,
